Since her debut as a soloist alongside Zubin Mehta at the celebration\u2019s concert of the 70th birthday of Her Majesty the Queen of Spain (at the inauguration of the Sony Auditorium of the Reina Sof\u00eda School of Music), Ana Mar\u00eda Valderrama emerged as one of the most acclaimed Spanish violinists of the moment and a rising star in the European music scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She secured the First Prize and the Audience Award at the XI International Violin Competition Pablo Sarasate 2011, becoming the first Spanish violinist to achieve this prestigious accolade. Ana Mar\u00eda has also won other significant competitions, including the International Violin Competition of Lisbon (Portugal), International Violin Competition of Novosibirsk (Russia), National Interpretation Competition Intercentros Mel\u00f3mano (Madrid), and the Primer Palau Prize (Barcelona), among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her intensive concert career has taken her to numerous countries, including England, Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Mexico, Colombia, Jordan, Tunisia, and the United States. Ana Mar\u00eda has performed as a soloist with international orchestras such as the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Niederbayerischen Philharmonie, St. Petersburg’s Academic Symphony Orchestra, Novosibirsk Orchestra, Yucat\u00e1n Symphony Orchestra, Nottingham Symphony Orchestra, Music Festival Orchestra of Lisbon, Philharmonic Orchestra of Medell\u00edn, Orchestre R\u00e9gionale de Cannes, and most Spanish orchestras, including OCNE, BOS, OSCyL, OBC, OSPA, and more. Ana Mar\u00eda is also dedicated to chamber music, having performed at festivals like Open Chamber Music (Prussia Cove), Santander International Festival, Segovia International Festival, Yellow Barn (USA), C\u00e1diz International Spanish Music Festival, Schubertiada de Cantabria, Musika-M\u00fasica Bilbao, and Tardes de Espa\u00f1a in St. Petersburg, among others. She forms a stable duo with pianist Luis del Valle, with whom she recorded her first album, “\u00c0 mon ami Sarasate,” receiving awards such as the Mel\u00f3mano de Oro and Scherzo Exceptional Disc. In 2016, she recorded “Fulgores” by Lorenzo Palomo with the Castilla y Le\u00f3n Symphony Orchestra and Jes\u00fas L\u00f3pez Cobos (Naxos). In 2018, she recorded Joan Man\u00e9n’s “Concierto Ib\u00e9rico” with the Orquestra Sinf\u00f3nica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya, conducted by Darrell Ang. Her latest album, “Brahms & Franck” (Eudora Records), recorded with pianist V\u00edctor del Valle, is also receiving critical acclaim and various distinctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ana Mar\u00eda Valderrama’s musical journey began with studies under Zakhar Bron and Yuri Volguin at the Reina Sofia College of Music, where she was recognized as the \u201cMost Outstanding Student in the Violin section\u201d by Her Majesty the Queen in 2005 and 2007. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2009, she graduated with the highest honors from the Higher School of Music of Catalonia, and in 2012, she completed her Master’s degree at the Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin with professor Antje Weithaas.
